St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, as part of their ministry outreach program, dedicated the month of September for donations of food to our pantry. We were surprised and delighted when a call was received after only three days of collecting donations. Over 100 pounds of food and produce had been donated. Items were gathered, transported to the pantry, weighed, and placed on the shelves for Saturday distribution. We are humbled by their generosity. On Tuesday we received a huge order from Manna Food Bank including food for The Emergency Food Assistance Program. The delivery included several thousand pounds of meats, canned veggies and  fruits, and fresh produce.

We welcomed this past Saturday 135 families representing 475 household members and twelve new families.

Volunteers are such an integral part of our organization. Helping at the pantry is helping to alleviate food insecurity in our community.

As of the end of August, we harvested 3600 pounds of vegetables so far in 2024, already meeting the twelve month total from 2023. And we still have crops of carrots, beets, collards, and spinach chard to harvest this fall. Here’s hoping for 4000 pounds in 2024!
