The prelude is a Dale Wood setting of the Scottish hymn tune "Come, O Traveler Unknown", unfortunately not in our hymnal but one of those tunes that "sounds familiar". Mr. Wood (1934-2003) also might be familiar, as I have written about him before. His body of works is most extensive and widely used.
Our processional hymn is "Ye servants of God, your master proclaim", a text by Charles Wesley (1707-1788) set to a melody very familiar to us at Calvary but from the same period.
I think the Gospel hymn is also well known "Thine arm, O Lord, in days of old was strong to heal and save" (567).
Our anthem might also be familiar to some; it is Herbert Howells' "My Eyes for Beauty Pine". Mr. Howells (1892-1983), was a very prominent English choral and organ composer.
During communion we will sing the famous 19th century hymn, "Just as I am, without one plea", 693.
Closing, another favorite-- "Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven", 410.
The postlude, a setting by the contemporary, Wayne L Wold (b. 1954), is based on the hymn tune "Songs of Thankfulness and praise", 135 in our hymnal, but also 174 as an Easter hymn. Mr. Wold retired from 30 years on the faculty of Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
