Last Tuesday night at our Executive Board meeting, we welcomed our Garden Master, Doug Kearney and Michael Schruckmayr. Michael presented an Eagle Scout Project to us. He suggested a plan to plant a pollinator garden to enhance the health of our garden and bees. Along with scouts from his troop, they will place plants native to Western North Carolina in the area beside the shed.
Saturday was a very busy day for our volunteers. We welcomed 143 households representing 512 individuals and registered thirteen new families. Fred shared with us other statistics including donated food items of 4,135 pounds, non-food items totaling 2,006 pounds, and 854 pounds of produce. This does not include our bi-weekly Manna deliveries.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, thank you to our volunteers and our area churches, civic groups, local merchants, and families for all you do to feed our community helping to reduce food insecurity. We thank you and appreciate your food and monetary donations.
