"It's beginning to look like Christmas" as we were blessed with several new volunteers this past Saturday. The Bartlett family and Mitchell Bullard were a "gift" to us along with our other volunteers helping to distribute food to our neighbors. As our neighbors arrived, Chef Martha was busily preparing French toast for sampling. Thank you City Bakery for donating bread for our demonstration and for our neighbors to shop for in the pantry. We served 76 households, 236 individuals, and welcomed two new families.

Highlights of this past week were Bethany Methodist Church of Fairview who provided many items of clothing and warm blankets for our neighbors especially new to our area. Ingles of Fletcher and Airport Road had a successful Food Drive providing bags of food weighing over 1500 pounds. Manna this week contributed tasty fresh produce including clemetines, pineapples, apples, and cucumbers. City Bakery donated 50 pumpkin pies. Other donated items were from Bimbos, Wal-Mart, Bright Farms, Flavor-First, and MilCo.

Friday, our volunteers stocked the shelves with purchased items from MANNA, Sav-Mor, and Ingles. Shopping locally we purchased items from JMJ Tomato Co ( onions, squash, zucchini), Sav-Mor (canned goods, milk, and eggs).

If you would like to participate in the Food Pantry Advent Calendar Challenge, you stop by the Calvary Church Office or foyer at the Pantry and pick up a calendar, milk box or paper bag for your items. This Advent calendar is a food drive for the Pantry

On behalf of the executive committee, thank you to our volunteers and our area churches, civic groups, local merchants, and families for all you do to feed our community helping to reduce food insecurity.
