Food and Formation in Lent
If you did not grow up in an Episcopal or Roman Catholic church (or even if you did), you might wonder what all the fuss is about when it comes to Holy Week. In many traditions, we show up one Sunday and there are palms everywhere, then we show up the next and there are Easter baskets. But the week in between holds a narrative that can shape and inspire our Christian lives throughout the year.
So this Lent, we’ll take a closer look at Holy Week and why we often refer to the experience of those days as “a journey.” Using the book Entering the Passion of Jesus by New Testament Scholar Amy-Jill Levine, we will let the events of Holy Week be our guide for exploring and deepening our faith. Books will be available in the church office or may be ordered online.
Food and Formation will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning on February 21 and going through March 20. A simple dinner of soup and salad will be served at 6:00, followed by a 45 minute discussion at 6:30. The suggested donation for dinner is $8.00 at the door, and a sign-up sheet will be available in the Old Well Hall.
